Cycling route from Hung Mui Kuk Road, Sha Tin to New Town Plaza, Sha Tin

Route | Hung Mui Kuk Road > Che Kung Temple > Chun Shek Estate > Che Kung Temple Station > New Town Plaza, Sha Tin

This time we start on Hung Mui Kuk Road near Tin Sam Estate!
Again you have to ride up onto the Octopus Footbridge. There are several cycle-track exits on the bridge.
We take the Sun Chui Estate exit down.

Most of the time you ride along the Shing Mun River. This Loco vlog rides straight to Che Kung Temple!
Che Kung Temple in Sha Tin is the best-known temple in the district. When you get there, you have to spin the bronze pinwheels in front of the altar and turn a bit of good luck your way! It is said that more than 300 years ago, plague swept through Sha Tin. The villagers believed Che Kung had appeared and brought the plague to an end, so they built a temple to him. Che Kung Temple was rebuilt in 1994. The original temple stands behind the present one and is not open on ordinary days.

When you ride, you will notice cycle-track exits. Do you know where they go?
Leave Che Kung Temple, keep riding and go through the tunnel, and you come to Chun Shek Estate. The end of the cycle track is the bus terminus.

In recent years quite a few estate malls and markets have been heavily renovated, and Chun Shek Market is no exception. Because it is next to Che Kung Temple, the design brings in the temple and classical Chinese architecture, and adds a Chinese restaurant and a snack street, so the neighbourhood can eat whatever it feels like. Leave Chun Shek Estate, return to Che Kung Temple Station and continue along the Shing Mun River.

There are two choices of cycle track towards Science Park. One turns left through Tai Wai industrial area. The other is the Hong Kong Heritage Museum section everyone usually rides. This time we take the quieter Tai Wai industrial area route.

This section includes a steeper footbridge. On the way down, watch for pedestrians at the end.

After the bridge, keep riding the cycle track. Note that because of the works, on the day of filming the cycle track only led to New Town Plaza, Sha Tin.

There is bicycle parking at the end of the cycle track. Park the bike properly when you are done.

⚠️ Because of the works, some sections of the cycle track may be closed for a time. Follow the directions on site.
