If you do not live around here you may not ride this side of the cycle track much. The views are pretty good. You can see the whole racecourse, and it is especially chill at dusk.

Ride a little further along the cycle track and you will see one of Sha Tin's landmarks, the Sha Tin Floating Restaurant.
The Sha Tin Floating Restaurant was a floating restaurant in old Hong Kong. In the 1960s it was moored on Sha Tin Hoi near Sha Tin Market. In the 1970s, when the government developed Sha Tin New Town and had to reclaim Sha Tin Hoi, it was forced to move.

In 1986 the Dunhuang restaurant group built a fixed stone boat on the bank of the Shing Mun River to stand in for the old Sha Tin Floating Restaurant. In 2002 it became the Star Seafood Floating Restaurant, and in 2018 it was refurbished as a wedding venue. The refurbished look largely kept the original appearance, so next time you pass, stop for a photo.

After the photo, keep riding along the east bank of the Shing Mun River. The east bank has more ups and downs, so take care as you ride.

Past Jat Min and Tsang Tai Uk there is a run of downhill then uphill. Test your brakes before the descent, and if you are short on energy, get off and push when it is safe.

Here is the end of this ride, Tai Wai Station. The cycle track here is fairly busy. Besides watching for other bikes, watch for people stepping onto the track.
