Route | Fanling Station > Fanling Highway > Sheung Shui Station

Former Fanling Magistracy

  • After revitalisation, it is now The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups Leadership Institute. It keeps the old courtroom, cells, defendants' passage, payment office, strong room and more. You can book a guided tour, or just look around on your own.
  • In the two-storey white house next door is a community cafe, #TeamYum Cafe, full of artsy atmosphere. If you like, drop in for a photo and lunch.

Luen Wo Market

  • Luen Wo Market is a market building that is no longer in use. It was once the largest market in the New Territories, and it is now let on short leases as a recyclable-materials recovery centre and a green market.
  • Luen Wo Hui is not fully open to the public on ordinary days, but you can still take photos outside the old market. If you want to see the whole of the old Luen Wo Hui market, some community groups run guided tours.

St Joseph's Church, Fanling

  • The only freestanding church in Luen Wo Hui, built of hand-dressed granite. It is now a Grade III historic building.
  • After the new extension, the porch at the main door and several religious objects inside are worth a look. The most striking is an icon in an Eastern Christian style on the wall behind the altar!

North District Park

  • The park is designed in the Yangzhou style of the Qing dynasty. At the centre are an artificial lake and a small waterfall, and it is quiet.
  • A few bald cypresses planted in the lake turn red around January each year. With the Chinese pavilions and gardens, it is excellent for photos!

Things to note |

  1. This section has quite a few tunnels, and a wrong turn is easy to get lost on.
