Cycling route from City One Sha Tin to Sha Tin Rural Committee Road

Route | City One Sha Tin > Sand Martin Bridge > Sha Tin Rural Committee Road > Grand Central Plaza
This #Loco vlog starts at City One Sha Tin.
If the destination is Sha Tin Station, you might think of riding the cycle track along the Shing Mun River.
This time we ride the other way!

Set off from City One Sha Tin and ride towards Prince of Wales Hospital.
This cycle track feels quieter than the one outside.

Once you have crossed the road, get ready for the downhill.
Watch out: pedestrians cross at the bottom of the slope. Mind your speed and take it slowly.

Sand Martin Bridge
If you have seen the film Weeds on Fire, this name will be familiar.
Its name comes from the Sand Martins, the first Chinese youth baseball team of the early 1980s.
The year after it was formed, it entered the Hong Kong Little League Open and took the title. The result was outstanding.
Sha Tin District Council and the Home Affairs Department later decided to name this bridge Sand Martin Bridge.

After Sand Martin Bridge, you come to Lek Yuen Estate and Wo Che Estate, which were also filming locations for the film Weeds on Fire.
Lek Yuen Estate was Sha Tin's first public housing estate, completed and occupied in 1975. The Chinese names of its 7 blocks begin with Wing, Wah, Fu, Kwai, Fuk, Luk and Sau.
Wo Che Estate next door was the second public housing estate to be completed. It was occupied in 1977, and six of the blocks are twin towers (well-shaped).

Not long after one slope, another one is waiting for us.
Ride within your limits. If you don't have the strength for the climb, get off and push when it is safe.

After this footbridge, you reach today's finish, Sha Tin Rural Committee Road.
There is bicycle parking outside Grand Central Plaza. Park properly, and don't block anyone!
